Sandiway Fong, Ph.D
Associate Professor/HLT Master of Science Program Coordinator

Brief Biography:
Sandiway Fong teaches course in computational linguistics and computer science. His original training began with an undergraduate degree in computing science from the University of London in 1985. At MIT, he received a Master of Science degree and spent time working on qualitative reasoning for large-scale computer systems. Soon after, doctorate research concentrated on the implementation of GB theory and, upon completion of his Ph.D. in 1991, led to his work at the NEC Research Institute with natural language processing. Sandiway Fong concentrates on pushing the HLT program forward with research in the areas of multilingual parsing and modern syntactic theory, machine translation evaluation, ontolinguistics, WordNet, computational lexical semantics and computational morphology.
