Brief Biography:
Mike Hammond teaches general courses in linguistics and specific courses in phonology, morphology, historical linguistics, and computational linguistics. Mike Hammond is not only part of the Human Language Technology Program, but shares affiliation with the Cognitive Science Program, the joint Linguistics-Anthropology Ph.D. Program, and the SLAT (advanced training for researchers concerned with second language acquisition). He has published books such as The Phonology of English and Programming in Java for Linguists. His research areas include: phonology, morphology, computational linguistics, English phonology and morphology, poetic meter, and psycholinguistics. Mike Hammond maintains the SPAM lab for his experimental research.
